Lynne Bolen

Since 1999, Lynne Bolen has been active with New Voices Playwrights Theatre as a playwright, director, producer, and actor, and she has served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for over two decades.  She was a member of the former Vanguard Theatre Ensemble.

Lynne’s play, Assumptions, is included in Best American Short Plays 2011-2012, Boulevard of Broken Dreams in Best American Short Plays 2013-2014, Baggage Game in Best 5-Minute Plays, all published by Applause Theatre & Cinema Books. Her plays published in the New Voices Annual Anthology of Short Plays include Spanish Masters (2014), Winners (2015), True Confessions (2016), A Fair to Remember (2017), Samantha Heart, P.I. (2018), Chicken Game (2019), Backs (2020), Small Change (2021), Assumptions (2022), Thieves (2023), Due Diligence (2024), Pish Posh (2025); and in the New Voices Holiday Plays, Christmastime Machine (2017), Past, Future & Christmas Present (2018), On Target [musical] (2019), Sunday News (2020), and New Year, New Life (2022).

Lynne’s plays have been produced at Lion’s Paw Theatre, St. Louis, MO; Askew Theatre, OR; Niagara University, NY; Acadia University, Nova Scotia; University of Maryland; University of Rhode Island; Arizona State University; University of Northwestern, MN; Bethel College, KS; DePaul College Prep, IL; Hotchkiss School, CT; and in CA, Drama West Productions; Oak Park High; Stage Door Repertory Theatre; MUZEO; OC Pavilion Performing Arts Center; Chance Theater; Vanguard Theatre; Gallery Theatre; STAGEStheatre; Cabrillo Playhouse; Empire Theatre; Mysterium Theater; Westminster Community Playhouse.

Lynne has directed over 50 plays for New Voices and other theatrical productions and has produced dozens of shows. As an actor, she has appeared in numerous stage plays and has starred and co-starred in nearly 50 independent short films, feature-length movies, and music videos.
